| Center Director This position is responsible for administering all aspects of an SFS Field Center including: staff management and team building; the academic program's design, implementation and evaluation; Center operations, including administration, financial and physical plant management, human resources, risk management, community outreach, fundraising and development; the Center's Five Year Research Plan, including design, implementation, evaluation and grant support; and representation of the Center in local, regional and international arenas. Qualifications: Ph.D. (strongly preferred) in ecology, resource management or socio-economics with demonstrated and relevant academic, research and field experience Minimum two years university teaching and curriculum development experience Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated upper level management experience and entrepreneurial ability Knowledge of U.S. higher education system and students. Proven experience with: team building, budget management, project management, legal compliance, risk management, conducting academic and/or research programs, heading environmental issue driven projects, programs or organizations, promoting involvement of local and international experts, negotiating with program partners, and grant writing. Commitment to organization-wide teamwork as part of the SFS management team. Experience managing people in a field based residential system. Experience living or working in host country or region with appropriate language skills. Ability to drive standard transmission vehicles and secure an Australian Driver's License. Other Expectations: Demonstrated commitment to environmental issues. Willingness to work flexible hours and live on site at the field station with a small team of permanent staff, groups of US graduate and undergraduate students and visiting researchers or programs. Ability to travel locally and internationally to support Center administration and initiatives.
